Summer has been accompanied by a lot of change for the Wisconsin Evans Scholars chapter. To start, the executive board along with ESF staff Brian Shell and Mike Vandermeir began to clean out the old Scholarship House. Shortly after, the building finally met its fate when the demolition crew took it down level by level.
The loss of their home didn't stop the Badgers from having fun this summer though. We had a great showing at the Summer Outing at Olympia Fields in June and are settling into our temporary home at Merit House.
In total there were 48 badgers at Olympia Fields this year, 12 of whom were incoming New Scholars. The class of 2022 were able to socialize with upperclassmen for the first time and it provided for much needed reintroducing. As a chapter we earned a solid 3.3 average GPA, ranking in the top five of Evans chapters. But that wasn't the only thing to celebrate, Evan Powers and Riley Ley teamed up to take home the Evans Inter-Chapter Golf Tournament hardware.
With all the fun of summer coming to an end, we are preparing for another successful year in Madison. Currently we are living in a residence hall in the heart of campus, providing us with some short walks to classes. The new Evans Scholarship House construction is underway, and Scholars are periodically walking by to see how it is coming along.
